Providing support for children and their families

Every day, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice aims to provide comfort and compassion for children with life-threatening illnesses.

It operates two hospices in British Columbia—Vancouver and Abbotsford—while also providing specialized care to families throughout the province with its Enhanced Community Program.

Canuck Place is able to offer its care services at no cost thanks to contributions from the provincial government, corporate sponsors, community organizations and individual donors. Otter Co-op has supported Canuck Place for the past three years.

When Fuel Good Day launched in 2017, Otter Co-op chose Canuck Place Children’s Hospice as the recipient of its five cents per litre of gas sold. In total, Otter Co-op’s donation reached $8,700.

“Canuck Place was thrilled to be a part of the initiative, not only for the financial impact for our children and families, but also for the engagement with the community and the spread of awareness of our work for families in the Fraser Valley and beyond,” said Caitlin Jung, Cause Marketing and Sponsorship Officer at Canuck Place.

“The team at Otter is a pleasure to work with, and we are incredibly grateful for their creativity, their thoughtfulness and the care they put into making a difference for Canuck Place.”

Fuel Good Day is September 18, 2018. Fuel up at your local Co-op Gas Bar, and Co-op will donate a minimum of five cents per litre of gas purchased to registered local charities and non-profits in communities across Western Canada.
