Propane is an abundant energy source that’s safe, affordable and reliable. Every day, Western Canadians rely on this clean-burning fuel for their homes, businesses and farms.

Starting new propane service or switching suppliers to Co-op is easy, and there are many benefits. It all starts by selecting an account:
1. Local Co-op Account
The most common account, it is used by most individuals and businesses requiring bulk propane delivery in one geographic area. It offers potential for cash back and equity from your local Co-op based on propane purchased throughout the year.
- The first step is to contact your local Co-op to become a Co-op member and set up a Co-op credit account. If you already have one, your local Co-op can add bulk propane to your account.
- Once this is complete, your nearest Co-op Propane Branch, managed by Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), will contact you to assess your propane needs and get started.
2. FCL Commercial Account
An FCL Commercial Account is best suited for businesses operating in multiple trading areas across Western Canada. This account offers competitive pricing on larger volumes of propane.
- Apply for an FCL Commercial Account online, referring to these instructions for assistance.
- If you already have an FCL account, contact a Co-op Propane Branch directly for further details.
Once your account is established, your nearest Co-op Propane Branch will work with you to assess your propane needs and delivery requirements. Please consider the following before getting started:
- Are you a new propane user, or are you switching providers?
This will help us build the right propane solution for your needs. It’s important for us to understand if you’re switching providers or fuel sources completely, if you already own a tank or require one, and if you need any other equipment or resources. - What will you be using propane for (e.g. home heating, space heating, grain drying, etc.)?
Based on your propane application and use, information received will help us determine tank sizes, volume demand, service/delivery requirements and regulations to follow. - Does your property or job site have any restrictions for tank placement or access?
How you use propane influences the regulations that need to be followed, particularly concerning storage and handling. For example, storage tanks are required to be a minimum of 10 feet away from your home to ensure a safe distance in the event of an accident.
Once accounts are set up and background information is collected, one of our trained professionals can equip your home or job site with the proper tank and complete any required service work.
Contact your local Co-op or one of our 22 propane branch offices to learn more about how Co-op can help with your propane needs.
