Diesel Exhaust Fluid is available at Co-op locations!
Co-op is a leader in promoting environmental sustainability and as such, we ensure the products and services we provide to our customers meet their requirements for environmental performance, including reducing emissions from diesel fuel.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is an emissions control liquid required by modern diesel engines to breakdown harmful Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) into nitrogen and water. DEF is a clear, colourless, non-hazardous mixture of 32.5 per cent urea and 67.5 per cent de-ionized water that has a slight smell of ammonia. It is injected into the exhaust stream and is utilized by Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to meet emission standards and improve fuel efficiency. DEF is never added to diesel fluid; a separate DEF tank is found on most new heavy-duty trucks, diesel pickups and off-road vehicles.
DEF can be purchased at most Co-op locations in jugs (9.46 L), drums (208 L) and totes (1041 L).
Select cardlock sites now offer DEF. View full list of locations
